Buying credits¶
Credits are bought in packs. The current pack lineup and prices are shown on the credits page — we don't reproduce them in docs because they change. Larger packs cost less per credit.
Payment¶
Payment is processed by Stripe. We don't see your card number — only a Stripe-issued token and the order metadata. Your card details are never stored on our servers.
Accepted methods (varies by region):
- Major credit and debit cards
- Apple Pay / Google Pay (in supporting browsers)
Canadian sales tax¶
If Canadian sales tax (GST / HST / PST / QST) applies, it's calculated at checkout based on the billing address you provide and shown clearly before you confirm the purchase. The breakdown is preserved on your receipt.
If you're a registered Canadian business and want to enter your GST / HST number to receive a tax-compliant invoice, the checkout form has a field for it.
Receipts¶
After purchase you'll get an email receipt from Stripe. The credits land in your balance immediately on successful payment — usually within a few seconds.
You can see your full purchase history on your account page, with links to each receipt.
Refunds¶
We offer refunds:
- Within 7 days of purchase for unspent credits, no questions asked. Email admin@thebunkerops.ca from the account email.
- Anytime if a report failed due to a bug on our side — that report's cost is automatically refunded to your balance, no manual request needed.
Spent credits — credits used to generate a report that was delivered as expected — are not refundable. The compute cost has already been incurred.
Earning credits¶
Two non-purchase ways to get credits:
- Submit accepted corrections. Each accepted correction earns credits (typically 10). See Submitting corrections.
- Admin grants. Occasionally we grant credits to early users, beta testers, journalists, and educators. If you fit one of those and haven't been credited, contact us.
Credits don't expire¶
A credit you buy today is the same credit if you spend it three years from now. We don't apply expiry dates and won't introduce them silently.
Why we don't take crypto¶
We considered it. The combination of:
- Volatile price exposure (we'd have to mark to market constantly)
- Higher fraud risk (irreversible payments make abuse harder to manage)
- Negligible user demand from our actual audience
…means it doesn't make sense for this product. If that changes we'll revisit.
Privacy of purchase data¶
We store the bare minimum: the Stripe customer ID, the pack purchased, the amount paid (gross), and the timestamp. We do not see or store your card number, billing address, or any of the data Stripe holds on your behalf.
Your purchase history is visible only to you and to the operators of the site (for support and tax-reporting purposes). It is not shared with any third party for marketing.
