What to include¶
- For bugs: the URL of the page, what you did, what you expected, what happened. Screenshots help.
- For coverage requests: the jurisdiction, a link to the upstream publisher's data (RSS, JSON, HTML), and what you'd most want to be able to search for.
- For partnerships: a paragraph on what you're trying to do and what shape of access would help.
Response times¶
- Bugs and account issues: usually within a couple of business days.
- Coverage requests and partnership conversations: within a week or two — we read everything but ingestion work is queued.
- Press inquiries on deadline: flag the deadline in your subject line ("DEADLINE: Friday 5pm ET") and we'll prioritize.
Not the right place for¶
- Questions for the politicians themselves. We don't relay messages. Their constituency offices (linked from their profile page where available) are the right channel.
- Political opinions. We don't moderate political debate via email.
- Public-records requests aimed at a legislature. Each legislature has its own access-to-information process.
